The Young Scholars Child Care Center in Island Lake began in a residential building in March of 1997, with three children and one teacher. During this same year three teachers were employed with eight students and a large waiting list formed. In the Spring of 1998, the first four-classroom center was built with twelve employees and a capacity of fifty-four full-time children. In 2000, the first center expanded to six classrooms allowing a total enrollment of seventy-eight. As of 2003, the center moved into a 10,000 square foot building with eight classrooms, an activity room and tons of outdoor space!  Now in 2008 we are at full capacity with a waiting list that continues. 

 

In January of 2008 we took ownership of a second facility.  The center that was previously known as A Child's Place II became Young Scholars Child Care Center of Gurnee.  Together with the wonderful staff from A Child's Place we became a team to raise the quality and standards for child care in Gurnee, Illinois.  You can read more about our second facility in Gurnee throughout this web site!  The future of this growing company is still in the making.  Our next venture will be our third center in Volo, IL!
