Hello and welcome to the Franklin Classroom! We are excited to have your child in our class and look forward
to working with him/her. Our program will allow your child to explore their world through many new learning experiences and
will focus on developing their self-esteem and independence in a structured social setting. The children in our class will
be given the opportunity to develop at their own pace and are offered encouragement and support in trying new things. Our
program will provide an enthusiastic, nurturing environment in which your child can grow, learn, and have lots of fun.

~Miss Shannon~
My name is Shannon Breve. I have been working at Young Scholars Child Care since October
of 2006. I have been working in the field of early childhood education for over 10 years! I started out of high
school as a teacher's aid and have been slowly pursuing my bachelor's degree while working as a teacher. I am
married to a wonderful man named, Armando since September of 2007. We spend lots of time watching our favorite reality
shows, going to the park, and hanging out with our nieces and nephews. Personally, I love spending time taking amateur
photographs, singing karaoke, or reading a favorite book at Starbucks! I look forward to spending time with all of your
children!

A weekly lesson plan is posted in the room every Monday with our activities for the week. Parents feel free
to bring items that pertain to our weekly theme on Wednesday’s for “Show & Share.”
Communication is vital in a positive parent/teacher partnership. Please feel free to contact us with any questions
or concerns that you may have. We are always happy to help. Thank you for sharing your child with us.

~Miss Megan~
Hello! I'm Megan Petersen. I have been working at this child care center since
2007 and enjoy it very much! I work in all the classrooms and have gotten to know all the children very well.
When I am not working I go to school at the College of Lake County in Grayslake. I am working on my teaching degree!
I would love to teach 1st or 2nd grade. In my free time I enjoy listening to music, watching movies, playing games,
and making my own greeting cards. I also enjoy spending time with my family and friends.

Our center also participates in building community, we
are proud to have raised $207,000 for the Converse Park Playground in Island Lake in 2004.
